Wall construction of the Riverbank Protection Felsenau in Bern with Concretum® SUPERFIBER H 880/40
Situation
First leg of concreting
Initial status
A cut-off wall is being built by the bank of the river Aare in Bern, starting at Felsenaubrücke leading along the riverside walk to Felsenaustrasse. The cut-off wall will protect the area behind the river in case of flooding. On top of the cut-off wall, a side wall of about 1.20 meters will be erected which protects the borough of Felsenau against flooding.
Solution and evaluation
Both construction units (cut-off wall and side wall) were built in a monolithic way using Concretum® SUPERFIBER H 880/40. It was thus possible to forego the complex bar reinforcement. Concretum® SUPERFIBER H 880/40 do not corrode and there will be no development of any ugly rost formations or pop-out on the surface. Using Concretum® SUPERFIBER H 880/40, the construction process could be simplifyied and the durability of the side wall Felsenau is guaranteed. Efficiency and quality are therefore maintained.
