Ganterbrücke, which was built from 1976 to 1980 and belongs to the busy Simplonstrasse A9, needs complete repair. To protect the construction against high stress on a long-term basis, the repair measures and applicated products have to meet high requirements. Concretum gave advice on necessary measures to the site management and was offered the job of external quality control for the surface protection work.
Solution and judgement
By making in-situ tests in advance, various concepts, application techniques and materials were compared. Based on those results a set of requirements and a concept for quality control was defined. The present external quality control refers to the repair and impregnation work on the whole bridge.
